The get yourself down to the Art Depot where we have a fantastic new rehabilitation programme for young people, and guess what? YES! It’s absolutely FREE!

This gives young people the opportunity to experience working as a team to put on a quality performance, in one of the best local theatres seating 140 people, experiencing the great feeling of being on a stage with a live paying audience watching. BAS hopes to stimulate young people’s minds to help the build up there confidence and character, for getting a healthy start to life. BAS are looking for hard working dedicated people.

Writing Style 1

Become A Start (BAS) are an up coming theatre company funded by Arts Council England, set up in order to help young people who are going through the rehabilitation process as a result of social exclusion, such exclusion may included ex convicted criminals, young people suffering trauma such as rape, bullying or domestic violence. Through drama BAS aims to install values missing within the individuals, creating social stability for young people to move on in a positive way giving them the confidents and gateway into many future opportunities.
BAS is set up to help young people aged 13-19 years of age, we as a company firmly believe that at such a young age life is just beginning for young people regardless of there background or life history, as a team we look to help young people get and create a positive start again in life, in exciting thrilling new ways using the medium of drama.
The young people will put on a two day performance at Arts Depot’s studio theatre this performance will be devised, and completely the ideas of the young people formulated over a period of three months.
Appearing at this event will be a special guest, who will meet the young people speak and congratulate them on all there hard work and achievements.
This breath taking and engaging new experience aims to have a valued positive affect on not only the young people but by the rest of the local community, it’s a chance for the young people to put on a performance of a lifetime which will hopefully reach out to many more young people encouraging them to join BAS.
We strive for new confident young people with lots of energy, confidence, ambition, and most of all the passion to want to make a difference, and for many this could be a start to a wonderful, successful career.
BAS will invite and encourage other company’s that specialise in similar projects, to come along and enjoy the great experience.

THE PLAY:

'The Fever Chart' tells three distinct but thematically related stories which explore the possibility of humanity in the most inhumane situations. In settings ranging from a zoo in Rafah, Palestine ('A State of Innocence') to a hospital in Tel Aviv ('Between This Breath and You') to a yard in Iraq ('The Retreating World') the play draws us into a world of war and high emotions.



The writer explores political tensions by grounding them in the human issues of love, life and death moving us from the specific to the universal. The show has run already and we are looking for one actor to complete the cast
